Chantilly lace formed the gowns which the Misses Joyce Elaine and Mary Loris Stewart, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), wore Friday evening, Aug. 5, 1949, for their weddings.

Miss Joyce, given in marriage by her brother, Kenton Stewart, became the bride of Robert Van Kueren, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Van Kueren, New Richmond, Wis. Miss Mary Loris, given in marriage by her father, exchanged vows with Everett Humke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Humke, Greenwood.

The candlelight ceremony took place at 7:30 p.m. in Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood, with the Rev. lee Holmes officiating.

The brides identical lace gowns were fashioned with sweetheart necklines outlined in beads. The gowns also had fitted bodices, with full skirts that extended into chapel trains. Their imported silk illusion finger-tip veils were held in place by clusters of pearlized orange blossoms. They carried identical bouquets of tea roses surrounded by white stephanotis and tiny roses.

James Van Kueren, River Falls, acted as best man for his brother; Miss Eileen Mattsen of Eau Claire, attended Miss Joyce Stewart as bridesmaid. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Humke of Neillsville, brother and sister-in-law of Everett Humke, attended him and Miss Mary Loris Stewart as best man and bridesmaid.

Cathy Asplin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Asplin, Greenwood, dressed in a white Japanese silk gown, and carrying a basket of rose petals, was flower girl; Lanny Stewart, a cousin of the brides, acted as ring bearer, carrying the rings in two white lilies.

Mrs. Van Keuren is a graduate of the Luther Hospital School of Nursing, Eau Claire, previous to her marriage was employed by Dr. Stephan Epstein in the dermatology department of the Marshfield Clinic. Her husband, a graduate of River Falls State Teachers College, ahs been an instructor in vocational agriculture in the Greenwood High School since 1946.

This year Mrs. Humke will teach first and second grades in the Greenwood Public School, her alma mater being Eau Claire Teachers College. Mr. Humke is a senior at Central State Teachers College, Stevens Point, and will receive his Bachelor of Education degree in January.

Both young men served four years in the Navy during World War II.

After a honeymoon trip to northern Wisconsin, Michigan and Canada, the couples will reside in Greenwood.

Carl Damerow of the town of Longwood, Clark County, passed away Monday Aug. 30, 1937, at 6:00 a.m. at a hospital at Two Rivers, Minn., from injuries receive while at work in a lumber camp, where he has been working since spring.

He was born in Germany 44 years ago and came with his parents to Greenwood in 1902.

He was not married and is survived by three brothers, Herman and Paul of Greenwood; William of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. George Fiske of Milwaukee and Mrs. Edward Braun of Greenwood. His father, Karl Damerow and a sister, Miss Agnes Damerow, passed away in January of this year and his mother in 1921.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, Sept. 2 at 1:30 from the home of his brother-in-law, Edward Braun in the Town of Longwood and at 2:00 from the Braun Settlement Church, Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer officiating. The body will be laid to rest in the Braun Settlement Cemetery.
