Schweinler, Brigadier General Francis Frederick, Aug. 10, 1906 - Nove 27, 1996. A memorial service for Brigadier General Francis F. Schweinler, 90, who passed away Wednesday, November 17, was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 1996 at the Chapel in the Presbyterian Home, 3220 Lake Joanna Blvd., Arden Hills. Intermnet will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. General Schweinler was born August 10, 1928 to Frederick and Lillian Schweinler in Nellsville, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife Irene A. (Humke) Schweinler, the couple was maried on August 15, 1928. Also surviving are three children, a son William T. Schweinler, and wife Bonita of Grantham, New Hampshire, and two daughters, Carmen Briscoe and husbnad Keith of Leawood, Kansas and Luann Woeltge and hustand Terry of Shoreview, Minnesota. General Schweinler is also survived by seven grandchilodren, Kristina Schweinler, South St. Paul; Kurt Schweinler, Emporia, Kansas; Keven Schweinler, Littleton, Colorado; Kimberly Gravenslund, Kenniwick, Washington; Susan Tideman, Leawood, Kansas; Ruth Woeltge of Shorview. Survivors include eight great-grandsons, and one great-grand daughter; a brother, Dewayne Schweinler of Mauston, Wisconsin, and a sister, Ione Bruhn of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Louis Edward Slock
Louis Slock, 70, emeritus facutly member at UW-Eau Claire and former Clark County School Supervisor, died Friday, November 23, in Eau Claire of natural causes.
Final rites were held Monday, November 26, at the Eau Claire Lake Side United Methodist Church, with Reverend David Kruse officiating. The Fuller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
Slock is survived by his widow Cora, of the home at 2716 Clark Place; by a son, Chuck, and a daughter Rachel, and four grandchildren.
Slock, who retired from UW-Eau Claire in 1974, joined the university's faculty as an instructor in rural education.
During his last ten years at UW-Eau Claire, Slock held a unique joint appointment as director of extension and assistant professor in the department of community affairs of UW-Extension, serving 22 counties of northwestern Wisconsin.
He organized off-campus Extension programs in education and social work offered through Extension in north central Wisconsin by UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee campuses.
Slock was known bo many as executive secretary-treasurer of the Eau Claire State College and University Alumni Association during the ten year period 1959-1969.
Slock served as director of Extension for UW-Eau Claire from 1950 until he received his joint appointment. He also served the university in many other positions; from 1944 to 1947 as instructor in rural education, originating the use and teaching of audiovisual education at the university; from 1947 to 1952, principal of the Campus Laboratory School; from 1953 to 1954, acting director of placement; from 1954 to 1960, director of rural education, and from 1960 to 1964, director of liberal arts placement.
Slock received his bachelor's degree in education from UW-Stevens Point. He was a rural and elementary school teacher and a high school principal, and then superintendent of schools in Clark County before joining the UW-Eau Claire facutly. He earned the M.S. degree from the University of Minnesota and completed additional graduate work at Minnesota and the University of Colorado.
Slock served as executive secretary of the Northwestern Wisconsin Education Association from 1948 until after he retired. He was president of the Association for Field Services in Teaching Education in 1959, and was a member of other professional groups in education. He was also past president and board member of the Eau Claire Exchange Club.

John Blecha, age 87 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank White at Chattaroy, Wash., Tuesday Nov. 2, 1926, after two months of intense suffering.
Mr. Blecha was born in Bohemia, July 4, 1839. He came to this country at the age of 17 years with his parents, three sisters and three brothers and located in Washington Co., Wis.
The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War, having served Co. 1, 24th regiment of infantry as corporal. He was married Nov. 10, 1875 to Anna Klinka of West Bend, Wis., whose death occurred 26 years ago. Four children were born to this union, James of Beloit, Wis., Frank, who passed away several years ago, Mrs. W. H. Kubat of Granton, Wis., and Mrs. F. C. White of Chattaroy, Wash.
Mr. Blecha, while quite decrepit with the infirmities of old age during the past several years, was of a cheerful disposition, and a wonderful father, uncomplainingly accepted his lot in life and was an inspiration to those who knew him.
The deceased was a resident of Clark County, Wis. over 40 years, living on a farm on the 26 road. Since leaving his home he has spent some time with his daughter at Granton and also at Chattaroy, Wash., at which place he died.
The body of the deceased was shipped from Chattaroy, Wash., to Loyal.
Funeral services were held at St. Balthasar's Church, Rev. Joseph Stenz officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
The following relatives attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. James Blecha of Beloit; his brother, Mr. Joseph Blecha and wife of West Bend, Wis.; his sister, Mrs. Peter Schmitt and daughter of St. Paul; Mrs. Mary Klinka and son of West Bend, Wis.; Mrs. George Hubing of Athens, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blecha of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blecha of Athens and Miss Anna Schuman of Milwaukee.
The Tribune, together with the many friends of the bereaved extend their heartfelt sympathy.
