Sheridan - Memorial services for Mary V. Decker, 93, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nove. 24, 2003, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Don Derryberry officiating. Burial will be in the Elk's section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

She died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Casper.

She was born Sept. 24, 1910, in Sheridan to Clarence V. and Lottie (Powers) Tiede.

She grew up on the family ranch at the head of Otter Creek, Mont. She attended Billup School in Otter, Mont., finished elementary school in Huntington Park, Calif. and graduated from high school in Fullerton, Calif.

She then returned to the Otter Creek ranch after high school in 1930.

On Oct. 23, 1934 she married August W. Decker. She was a homemaker and partner on the ranch for over 65 years from 1934 through the 1990's. The couple moved to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho where her husband was in the timber industry during the drought of 1936 and 1937. She was a clerk for the Billup School District for over 30 years.

She was a member of the Quietus-Otter Home Demonstration Club, the Eastern Star, and the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed painting and the piano, gardening, arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, needle point, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Tommy Tiede.

She is survived by one sone, Gordon L. Decker, of Belgrade, Mont.; one daughter, Dona L. Owen, of Casper; one sister, Blanche "Bunny" Haight, of Eugene, Ore.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Sheridan Senior Center, or the Powder River Commjnity Historical Museum, Broadus, Mont.
