Obituary of Martha Awe
(Thursday, July 13th, 1967 edition of the Clark County Press)
Mrs. Theodore Kippenhan, 74, of Kenosha and recently of Greenwood, died
Sunday in a Kenosha hospital following a heart attack. Funeral services
will be held today (Thursday) at 2 o'clock from Immanuel United Church in
Greenwood. Burial will take place in the West Side cemetery. The Rev.
david Logue will officiate.
Mrs. Kippenhan was born July 5th, 1893, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Henry
Awe in the Town of Green Grove. She was married to Theodore Kippenhan June
23, 1915 at the home of her parents with the Rev. Otto Saewert officiating.
Mr. And Mrs. Kippenhan celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1965.
After their marriage, the couple settled seven miles northwest of Greenwood
where they farmed until their retirement in 1956. They made their home with
their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. And Mrs. Elmer Meinhardt of rural
Greenwood, until 1961, when they moved into a residence in Greenwood, where
Mr. Kippenhan died in November, 1966.
In May, 1967, Mrs. Kippenhan moved to Kenosha to make her home with a
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. And Mrs. Emery Sieger.
Mrs. Kippenhan was a lifetime member of the Immanuel United Church and of
the Women s Guild.
Survivors include: three sons, Alvin and Paul of Greenwood, and Herbert of
Wausau three daughters, Mrs. Emery (Norma) Sieger of Kenosha, Mrs. Elmer
(Esther) Meinhardt of Sheboygan Falls, and Mrs. Price (Rosa) Davis of
Milwaukee 15 grandchildren four great-grandchildren a brother Arthur Awe,
of Owen and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Voightlander of Abbotsford.

Herbert A. Kippenhan, 85, Stevens Point, a former Wausau resident died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at St. Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point.
He was born March 24, 1918 in Clark County, son of the late Theodore and Martha (Awe) Kippenhan. On Oct. 22, 1941 he married Helen Hintz. She died Dec 26, 1976. He married Ramona Prechtel in 1981. She died in 1987. He then married Marie Kostuck-Kruzicki on Feb 10, 1990 in Stevens Point. She survives.
Herbert served in the Navy during WW II as a second class petty officer radio technician aboard the USS North Carolina during the battles in the South Pacific.
Herbert was a central office repairman for AT&T until retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion Post in Stevens Point, the communications Workers of American Telephone Pioneers, and the USS North Carolina Battleship Association. Herbert enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Survivor besides his wife, Marie, Stevens Point, includes one daughter, Karen (Edward) Gault, Wausau; one son, Herbert Kippenhan, Jr., Elmhurst, Ill.; two step daughters, karen (Dennis) Simonis, Plover and Janice Krishnan, Allen, Texas; two step sons, James (Gretchen) Kruziki, Stevens Point and Michael (Janice) Kruziki, Appleton; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Rosa 'Kippy' (Bud) Davis, Milwaukee.
Besides his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau. Rev. Donald E. Baumann will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 15 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood, for Paul Kippenhan, 53, of Route 2, Greenwood, Wis.
Mr. Kippenhan passed away at 4:24 a.m., Monday, June 12, 1978 at his home.
Rev. Larry Davis will officiate at the services and interment will be in the West Side Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, after 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, and at the church after 10:30 a.m., Thursday June 15.
Paul Kippenhan was born to Theodore and Martha Kippenhan on May 3, 1925 in the Town of Mead and received his education at Kippenhan School.
He was a Korean Veteran, serving in the Army from Feb. 27, 1951 until Feb. 4, 1953.
On Aug. 14, 1954, he was married to Julia Scheel in Neillsville. They farmed in the Town of Mead until the fall of 1965, when they purchased the tavern, known as Kippenhan s Tavern, and operated it until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Julia two brothers, Alvin of Greenwood and Herbert of Wausau and three sisters, Mrs. Emmery (Norma) Sieger of Kenosha, Mrs. Elmer (Esther) Meinhardt of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Price (Rosa) David of Milwaukee.
Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, is in charge of arrangements.

Larry is survived by two brothers: Harold (Karen) Hintz and Edwin (Sue)Hintz, both of Milwaukee. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry had been employed as an accountant with the H&R Block Tax Service in Milwaukee.
He had served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He moved to the Wisconsin Veterans Home from Milwaukee in August of 2002.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 1:30 PM at the Ainsworth Hall Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Wis. Interment will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, Wis. Friends may call at the Ainsworth Hall Chapel at King on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, Wis. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Clinton A. Phelps
Clinton A. Phelps, age 85 of Baraboo, passed away on Monday, April 5, at St. Clare Meadows Care Center.
Clinton was born on April 5, 1919 in Alto, to Frank and Edna (Fry) Phelps. He married Nelda Reinhardt on March 19, 1940. He was employed at Industrial Coils for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Phelps of Baraboo; four children, Suzanne (Bill) Reifsnider of Beaver Dam, James Phelps of Altoona, Jerald (Linda) Phelps of Baraboo, and Eugene (Martha) Phelps of Baraboo; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Darlene (Caryl) Decker of Janesville, Patricia (Edward) Tourdot of Baraboo, and LaVon Puttkamer of Baraboo; one brother, Robert (Charlotte) Phelps of Janesville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Clinton was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Phelps and Edna Phelps-Miller; a brother, Franklin; two sisters, infant Lenora and Rosetta Lyke; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Lyke and Arthur Puttkamer.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, at the Rock Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Sunderlage officiating. Memorials may be made to the Dogs for the Deaf through the Good Sams program or to the family for the Rev. Sunderlage's ministry. The Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo is assisting with arrangements.
