Greenwood: Services for Edwin William Abel, 74, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, Clark County, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Abel died early Thursday morning, July 11, 1974, at his home. He had been dismissed Wednesday from the Neillsveill Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks.

The Rev. Lee H. Holmes, retired Methodist minister from Marshfield, will conduct the services, and burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations may be made at the Hill Funeral Home beginning this afternoon (Friday) until time of services on Saturday.

Mr. Abel was born July 7, 1900 in the Town of Eaton and received his education in the Greenwood Schools. Following his marriage to the former Fern Vine on Sept. 25, 1929, at Greenwood, the couple settled on a farm 2 miles west of Greenwood, where they had resided since.

Survivors indlude his wife, a son, richard, Greenwood, three daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Shirley) Christopherson, Greenwood, Mrs. Timothy (La Verne) Martens, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Donald (Joan) Kovisto, Lake Nebagamon, a Brother, Theodore, Greenwood and 11 grandchildren.

Reverand Alwyn York officated for the funeral of Mrs. Bertha Schwarze, 81, of 2002 South Crocker, Greenwood, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 3 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood.

Mrs. Schwarze died sunday morning, November 30, at her home.

Serving as pallbearers were Alvin Albert, Albert Wehrman, Harvey Goeke, Ervin Toburen, Alvin Wehrman and George Kuester. Burial was in the Westside Cemetery. Rinka Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Noah was born to Adolph and Louise (nee Hoele) Noah in the Greenwood Area on August 9, 1899 and was educated at the Town of Mead School.

She was married in the Town of Mead on September 10, 1919, to Arthur Schwarze. After their marriage they farmed in the Town of Warner until 1975, when they retired and moved to the City of Greenwood.

She was a member of Immanuel Church of Christ and the Women's Guild.

Besides her hustand, Arthur, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Bernice) Fravert of Greenwood; one son, Elmer of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers, Emil of Greenwood and Oscar of Cockrane, Wis.' two sisters, Mrs. Selma Holman of Grafton, Wis. and Mrs. Alvina Peters of Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her death were her parents; one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Herman Schwarze passed away at her home in Greenwood, Sunday morning, February 21, 1937, at 7:30 o'clock. The cause of her death was old age.
Mrs. Schwarze was born in Germany and came to the United States 65 years ago, living at Sheboygan for a short time before coming to Greenwood.
On November 11, 1873, she was united in marriage to Herman Schwarze in the town of Warner where they resided on a farm for many years before coming to this city.
She is survived by her husband four sons and three dauthters. Adolph, Albert, Otto and George, Mrs. Fred Brick, Mrs. Fred Buker all of Greenwood and Mrs. Sidney Greene of Pueblo, Colorado. There are also 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Deceased was a pioneer resident of this community and was a woman well liked by all who knew her. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and was always ready to assist those in need.
Funeral services will be held from the local Reformed Church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and burial will take place in the West Side cemetery. Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer will officiate.

OBITUARY OF MRS. HERMAN SCHWARZE

Mrs. Christine Schwarze was born November 5, 1848 in Brandenburg, Germany, the daughter of Micheal Meier and Louisa Zunow. The Zunow family was of Huguenot descent and were forced to flee from France to Germany.
At the age of 23, she came to Franklin, Sheboygan County and on November 11, 1873 was united in marriage to Herman Schwarze. They were among the first pioneers to make their home at Decker Corners where Mr. Schwarze operated a blacksmith shop. In 1893, they moved to the farm now operated by their son, Otto, where they lived until 1920 when they came to this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Schwarze were charter members of Immanuel's Reformed church on the West Side, and Mrs. Schwarze retained membership in its Ladies Aid society until her death, although she became a member of the Zion Reformed church and Ladies Aid Society when they moved to Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband and seven children, Helen, Mrs. Fred Buker, Mathilda, Mrs. Fred Brick, George, Albert, Adolph and Otto, all of Greenwood and Augusta, Mrs. Sidney Greene, Pueblo, Colo., 167 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.
Two children, Frederick, who died in infancy and Dr. Herman Schwarze who died October 25, 1932 and three sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schwarze passed away at her home Sunday morning, February 21, 1937 from old age complications and funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. fro the Zion Reformed church with Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer who conducted the German services and Rev. P.H. Franzmeier, of the the West Side church having the English service. She was laid to rest in the West Side cemetery.
The pallbearers were six grandsons Durward Schwarze, Ewald Schwarze, Harvey Schwarze, Orlin Schwarze, George Buker and Alvin Brick.

OBITUARY FOR EWALD SCHWARZE
(b. 1/3/1906 d. 5/22/1979)
Ewald Schwarze, 73, East Schofield Court, Greenwood, was taken by ambulance tO'Neillsville Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at approximately 6:30 PM Tuesday. He died of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral Services are set for 1:30 PM Friday at Zion United Church of Christ, the Rev. David S. Logue officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 PM Thursday at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, and after 10 AM Friday until time of services.
Mr. Schwarze was born Jan 3, 1906, in the town of Warner. He attended Benjamin School and married Sarah Olson Nov. 28, 1928 at the Westside parsonage. They observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary October 1978.
He farmed in the Greenwood area and worked for Stewart's Cheese Factory. He also was employed as a janitor for five years at Loyal High School, retiring in 1971.
Survivors include his wife two sons, Donald of Marhsall and Stanley of Rochester, Minn. a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Eileen) Krapf Jr., Greenwood two brothers, Orlin of Greenwood and Richard of Newcastle, Wyo. and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister.
Pallbearers will be John Jakobi, Gene Carteron, Harlan Brux, Ray Barkes, Henry Neilsen and Bud Smith.

Rites Set for Area Woman

Services for Eleanor Meta Schwarze, 52, of Greenwoode, who died at 6 AM, Sunday, Feb 4 at the Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Jehovah Witness Readers, led by Jerome Berger of Neillsville, will conduct the service, and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitations may be made at the funeral home.
Miss Schwarze was born Aug. 9, 1920, in the town of Warner, in Greenwood, and never married. She had been residing at the Black River Apartments, where she fell and fractured her hip on Dec. 11. She was taken to the Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, where she has been until her death.
Survivors include three brothers, Richard Schwarze of New Castle, Wyo., Ewald and Orlin Schwarze, both of Greenwood and 11 nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parent, George and Frieda Schwarze, and a brother.

Services were held at 2 PM Wednesday at the Hill funeral home in Greenwood for Miss Eleanor Meta Schwarze, 52, Greenwood, who died Sunday at the Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
Jerome Berger, Neillsville, of the Jehovah Witness Readers, conducted the service, and vurial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harlan Nielsen, Harris Nielsen, Stanley Schwarze, John Gullickson, Frank S. Zep, and Verne Schwarze.
Soloist was Henry Nielsen, who sang "Blessed be the Tie That Binds" and "O Master Let Me Walk With Thee", and the oranist was Miss Berdell Nielsen.

Orlin H. Schwarze, 90, Greenwood, Clark County, died on Monday, June 18, 2001, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, where he had resided since July 2000. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, and again Friday, June 22, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., at Immanuel United Church of Christ (West Side), Greenwood. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Humke, Jerald Richmond, and Herbert Horn.
Orlin Hugh Schwarze was born Sept. 2, 1910, in the town of Warner, Greenwood, to George and Frieda (nee Kuhlman) Schwarze. He attended school in the Greenwood area. He married Bernice Hintz on June 29, 1939. They lived in the Greenwood Area their entire married life. They farmed in the town of Warner and he also worked for the township in road construction and maintenance. They retired and moved to Greenwood in Oct. 1982. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, ball games, day bus trips, and being active with the Senior Citizens. He was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ his entire life. His wife preceded him in death on April 19, 1988. In May 2000, he suffered a stroke that left him unable to care for himself, his home, yard and garden, and he entered the Clark County Health Care Center. He will be remembered by the city of Greenwood residents for his daily walks and his kind, gentle, soft-spoken manner.
Survivors include his children, Ardith (Henry) Fischer, Owen, Lila (John) Gullickson, Madison, Lynn Schwarze, San Diego, Calif., Marion (Frank) Szep, Milwaukee, and Vern (Luanne) Schwarze, Unity and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Bernice three brothers, Harvey, Ewald, and Richard and one sister, Eleanor.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.

OBITUARY OF OTTO GEISLER

Otto Geisler was born October 19, 1859 in Sheboygan and passed away at his home in Greenwood September 28, 1930, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 9 days.

His boyhood days were spent in Sheboygan. He came to Clark county in 1878 and he and his father began to make a farm out of what was at that time a wilderness.

He was married to Miss Anna Conrad of Theresa, Dodge county, January 20, 1881 and together they developed a fine farm which remained their home until 1926 when they moved to Greenwood. Their son William taking possession of the farm.
On July 3rd he fell and broke his hip and was taken to the Marshfield hospital where he remained until Sept. 17th, when he was brought home.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three sons, Edward, William, and Adolph, (one daughter died in infancy), four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last of six children, one brother having passed away in June.
Services were held at Greenwood Reformed church, Rev. Franzmeier preached in English on Prov. 23, 18 and Rev. Pfeiffer took the litergical part and preached in German on John I:27-28. "The Master is here and calleth thee."

The body was laid to rest in the Braun Settlement cemetery.

FUNERAL WILL BE CONDUCTED WEDNESDAY FOR 88 YEAR OLD WOMAN

Greenwood - Mrs. Anna Geisler, 88, who since the death of her husband in 1930 had been making her home with her sons, Ed at Cornell and Adolph at Greenwood, Clark County, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 1947, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mrs. and Mrs. Ed Geisler. She had been in poor health since May, 1946.

The body is lying in state at the Schiller Funeral Home, where funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., followed by a 2 o'clock service at the Schiller Funeral Home. The Rev. J.C. Klingerberger will be in charge of the rites and interment will be made in the Braun Settlement cemetery.

Mrs. Geisler, nee Conrad, was born June 15, 1859, at Theresa and was married at Greenwood Jan. 20, 1881, to Otto Geisler, who died in September, 1930. She came to Clark County with her parents when she was a child, and after her marriage settled on a farm 6 miles northwest of Greenwood, where the Adolph Geislers now reside.

Surviving besides her two sons are two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A son, William, died in Janurary, 1938, and a daughter died in infancy.

Greenwood - Mrs. Anna Geisler, 88, who since the death of her husband in 1930 had been making her home with her sons, Ed at Cornell and Adolph at Greenwood, Clark County, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 1947, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mrs. and Mrs. Ed Geisler. She had been in poor health since May, 1946.

The body is lying in state at the Schiller Funeral Home, where funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., followed by a 2 o'clock service at the Schiller Funeral Home. The Rev. J.C. Klingerberger will be in charge of the rites and interment will be made in the Braun Settlement cemetery.

Mrs. Geisler, nee Conrad, was born June 15, 1859, at Theresa and was married at Greenwood Jan. 20, 1881, to Otto Geisler, who died in September, 1930. She came to Clark County with her parents when she was a child, and after her marriage settled on a farm 6 miles northwest of Greenwood, where the Adolph Geislers now reside.

Surviving besides her two sons are two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A son, William, died in Janurary, 1938, and a daughter died in infancy.

Edward Louie Geisler, 94, who lived at the Thorp Care Center, died there on Nov 19 1975.
Funeral services were held at the Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood, with burial in the Cornell Cemetery. Edward Geisler was born Oct 4 1881 in the Town of Warner and received his education at Braun Settlement school. He was married to Amelia Decker (daughter of Fred and Mary Meier Decker) on June 3 1908. She preceded him in death Dec 26 1974. They farmed in the Town of Warner until 1944, then went to Cornell, where he worked for the paper mill and REA Electric Coop until 1946. From 1946 he lived in retirement and Cornell and Thorp. He is survived on one nephew, Ervin Geisler, Greenwood, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Katherine Geisler, Owen. He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

ALVIN KIPPENHAN DIES WAS MEAD AREA FARMER
Alvin Kippenhan, 62, rural route Greenwood, Town of Mead, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 1978, at the Neillsville Memorial Home.
Kippenhan, son of Theodore and Martha Kippenhan, was born Dec. 2, 1916, in the Town of Mead. He was married June 28, 1939 to Emma Williams in the Town of Reseburg. He received his education in the Kippenhan School.
For many years he farmed in the Town of Mead. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ.
Surviving him is his wife, one son, Edwin, in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Jacksonville, Fla. three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Evelyn) Cram of Neillsville, Mrs. Louis (Ethel) Zink, Jr., of Berlin and Mrs. Wendell (Dorothy) Ott of Neillsville one brother, Herbert, Wausau three sisters, Mrs. Emery (Norma) Sleger of Kenosha, Mrs. Elmer (Esther) Meinhardt of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Price (Rose ) Davis of Milwaukee and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Paul.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 21, from the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood, with burial in the West Side Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Davis, pastor, officiated.
Pallbearers were Arthur Kolstad, Erwin Toburen, Elmer Noah, Elmer Kuester, Arvin Liebzeit and Norman Liebzeit.
Mrs. Alvin Albert accompanied the choir for two selections.
The Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
