REV. KLINGEBERGER OFFICIATES AT SERVICES MONDAY AFTERNOON
Greenwood Funeral services for Carl Kippenhan, 40, who died Friday, Oct. 11, 1946, at 9 a.m. at Mendota Hospital, where he had been taken two days earlier, were held at the Schiller Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and at West Side Reformed Church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J.C. Klingeberger officiated and interment was made in the church cemetery.
During the service the junior choir, accompanied by Mrs. J.C. Klingeberger, sang Safe in the Arms of Jesus and Ivory Palaces . Pallbearers were Arnold Decker, Lester Frank, Joseph Boe, Gilbert Abel, and Adolph Abel, Greenwood, and Arthur Kuester, Thorp.
Flowers were carried by four nieces, Mrs. Roland Hintz, Milwaukee Mrs. Elmer Meinhardt, Owen Miss Rosa Kippenhan, Milwaukee and Mrs. Max Sievert.
Carl Kippenhan, son of John and Minna (Franz) Kippenhan, was born in the Town of Mead, Clark County, northwest of Greenwood, May 13, 1906, and was baptized and confirmed as a member of Immanuel (West Side) Evangelical and Reformed Church, Greenwood.
Mr. Kippenhan, whose death was caused by bronchial pneumonia and a heart ailment, had operated the Moberg farm, east of Greenwood, until recently.
He is survived by his aged father, John Kippenhan, Appleton, and the following brothers and sisters: Hilda Kippenhan, Appleton Louise Kippenhan, Balck River Falls Cilla Kippenhan, Neillsville Mrs. Elmer (Lydia) Wolf, Publo, Colo. Mrs. Herbert (Emma) Wickesburg, Appleton John Kippenhan Jr., Appleton Arthur Kippenhan, Loyal Roland Kippenhan Appleton and Theodore, August, and Edward Kippenhan, Greenwood.

Elsie F. Kippenhan (nee Brock)
Age 96, passed away Monday, January 19, 1998 at her home. Elsie was born on November 7, 1901, in Appleton, the daughter of George and Frieda (Schmidt) Brock. On September 22, 1939 she married the late Roland Kippenhan in Appleton. Elsie was a very active lifelong member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons; Roland, Jr. (Nancy), Woodbury, Minnesota; and Gregory (Marilyn), Neenah; four grandchildren, Roland III (Nan), Timothy (Andrea), Mathew, and Deborah (John) Rapp; three great-grandchildren, Roland IV, Lauren, and Megan; a brother Herb (Leone) Brock, Appleton, Elsie is further survived by many nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Elmer and Ed.

Beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with his Lord at 2:30 p.m. Sundah, August 5, 1984. He was born in Appleton on September 6, 1899 and attended Appleton schools in his youth. He farmed in the Greenville area most of his life and was a faithful member of the Appleton Alliance Church. Mr. Wickesberg was a member of the South Greenville Grange, having served as master, chaplan, and executive committee member. Survivors include his wife, Emma (Kippenhan) Wickesburg; a daughter and son-in-law; Jean and Charles Sommers, Des Moines, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law; Alfred and Betty, Hubertus, Wisconsin; two sisters: Alma and Elsie Wickesberg, Germantown; three grandchildren: Debbie, and her husband, Bruce Berendts, Minneapolis; Brand and his wife, Sherri, Des Moines; Kathy Sommers, Des Moines; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ben, and a sister, Anna Wehrman. The complete funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Appleton Alliance Church, corner of Durkee St. and Capital Dr. with Rev. George St. Cyr officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St. from 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of service. A memorial fund has been extablished.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schwarze celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday May 14, 1944. At noon a dinner was served at their home 4 miles northwest of here to immediate relatives. The guests included: Wm. Schwarze and daughter, Arlene; Mr. and Mrs. William Abel; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schwarze; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schwarze, daughter Bernice; Mr.and Mrs. Albert Wessel and daughters; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tieman and family; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wessel; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Wessel and son, Allen.
In the evening a community celebration was given in their honor at the Warner Town Hall. Later in the evening, relatives and friends were served refreshments at the Schwarze home. Mrs. Otto Reineking, Mrs. Ed Kippenhan, Mrs. Otto Fravert and Mrs. Albert Wehrman were the cooks, and the waitresses were four nieces: Bernice Schwarze, Arlene Schwarze, Violet Tieman and Deloris Wessel.
Mr. and Mrs. Schwarze have two children who were present for the celebration, their daughter, Miss Irma Schwarze, who is employed at Waukesha, and their son, Elroy of Greenwood.
Their daughter presented Mrs. Schwarze with a corsage, and Mr. Schwarze an American beauty rose boutonniere.
They received a purse of many pieces of silver coins from the relatives and friends who attended.
The Gleaner joins their many friends and relatives in extending congratulations and best wishes for many more happy anniversaries
Obituary Alfred John Schwarze, 73 (Greenwood Gleaner)
Alfred John Schwarze, 73, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died suddenly of a heart attack, at his home at 4 a.m. Sun., January 19.
Funeral services, in chrge of the Hill funeral home were held Tuesday afternoon from the Zion United Church, with the Rev. Orval Egbert in charge. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Alfred Schwarze, son of John and Catherine (Ziesel) Schwarze, was born July 28, 1890, in the town of Warner.
He was married May 14, 1919 to Ella H. Wessel in the town of Longwood. They lived on their farm four miles northwest of Greenwood until they retired and moved into Greenwood in 1948.
Mr. Schwarze, who was a veteran of World War I, was a member of the Wallis Hinker Legion Post, No. 238, and also a member of Zion United Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Irma) Kessler of Waukesha; a son, Elroy , of Arpin; a brother, Arthur Schwarze of Greenwood; and five grandchildren.

Alfred Schwarze was born July 28, 1890 in the Town of Warner. His marriage to Ella H. H. Wessel took place May 14, 1919 in the Town of Longwood. After their marriage the couple lived on a farm northwest of Greenwood until 1948, when they retired and moved to the city of Greenwood.
Mr. Schwarze was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Irma) Kessler, Waukesha a son, Elroy Schwarze, Arpin a brother, Arthur Schwarze, Greenwood and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, and seven brothers.
During prohibition, Alfred made plum brandy and kept his inventory in the woods. When ever his customers would want some, they would stop by and Alfred would go to the woods to get what ever they needed. Eventually he was found out by the authorities and his inventory was destroyed. This story was related to Roy Schwarze by Irma Kessler, his aunt. Roy said he was visiting Irma and as they were talking she started to giggle. When Roy asked her what was so funny, she said "You didn't know your grandfather was a bootlegger, did you." She then told him about the Plum Brandy.

Arthur Schwarze, 93, of Greenwood, died at 8:20 p.m., Monday, May 1, 1989, at the Colonial Living Center of Colby. Funeral services were held Friday, May 5, 1989 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood, Clark County, Wisconsin. Rev. John Tschudy officiated the service and burial took place in the Westside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Terry Schwarze Roger A. Schwarze David Schwarze James Fravert Leroy Fravert, Jr. and Roger Schwarze.
Arthur Schwarze was born July 22, 1895 to John and Katherine Schwarze in Greenwood, Wis. He attended school through the eighth grade at the Decker School. On Sept. 10, 1919, he married Bertha Noah in the town of Mead. He farmed all his life until 1975 when he retired and moved to the city of Greenwood. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ and served as Town Chairman, and as Town Clerk for the town of Warner.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Bernice) Fravert, Greenwood one son, Elmer Schwarze, Minneapolis twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, parents and ten brothers and sisters. Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Notice is hereby given that at a term of said Court to be held on Tuesday, the 28th day of June, 1932, at 10 O'clock in the forenoon of said day, at the Court House in the City of She boygan in said County, there will be heard and considered:
The application of Mathilde Wessel Blanke, executrix of the estate of Henry Wessel, deceased, late of the town of Herman in said County, for the examination and allowance of her final accout, which account is now on file in said Court, and for the allowance of debts or claims paid in good faith without filing or allowance as required by law, and for the assignment of the residue of the estate of said deceased to such persons as are by law entitled thereto; and for the dermination and adjudication of the inheritance tax, if any, payable in said estate.

Greenwood - Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Adolph Wessel, 71, who died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 12, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schwarze, in the Town of Warner.
The Rev. P. H. Franzmeir conducted the 1:30 o'clock rites at the Braun Settlement Cemetery.
Pallbearers were William Schlinsog, William Miller, John Vollrath, Ed Hinker, Clarence Mason, and C. C. Hoehne.
Born in Germany - Mr. Wessel, son of the late Bernard and Johanna Oberkrueger Wessel, was born in Lippdetmold, Germany, Oct 15, 1867. I 1892 he came to the United States and worked in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties until 1898, when he was married on Aug 13 to Anna Auerbach.
After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Wessel purchased a farm in the Town of Mad, where Mrs. Wessel died June 8, 1917. Twelve years later Mr. Wessel sold his farm to his son, Albert, and moved to the city of Greenwood.
In June of this year his health began to fail and he was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he received medical treatment for a short time. Since that time he had lived with his son-in-law and daughter, the Alfred Schwarzes.
Surviving Relatives: Mr. Wessel is survived by four sons, Walter Wessel, Neenah; Alfred Wessel, Town of Mead; Adolph Wessel, Dixon, Ill; and Theodore Wessel, Town of Mead; and two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Ella) Schwarze, Town of Warner, and Mrs. Donald (Lydia) Tieman, Town of Butler. Three children died in infancy.
There are also nine grandchildren and sister, Mrs. William Tohl, Plymouth.

Anna Wessel Obituary
Wessel, Anna (25 Feb 1875 - 8 Jun 1917)
Mrs. Adolph Wessel died at her home in the town of Mead, Clark County, Wis, Friday morning, June 8, 1917, the cause of her death being due to a paralytic stroke.
Anna Auerbach was born Feb. 25, 1875, at Chemnitz, Germany. On Aug. 13, 1898, she was united in marriage to Mr. Adolph Wessel, the marriage taking place at Greenwood. Nine children were born to this union, of which three died in infancy.
Deceased was a kind and loving wife and mother, and will be a great loss to the bereaved family.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and the following children, Ella, Walter, Albert, Lydia, Adolph and Theodore, all at home, also one Sister, Mrs. Ernest Weichelt of Marshfield.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from Salem Church at the Braun Settlement, Rev. Hall officiating.
Those who attended the funeral from out of town were, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Weichelt of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wessel of Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. Wm. Tohl and daughter of Sheboygan Falls.
The bereaved family has the sympathy of their many friends.

August C. Wessel, 50, died at the home of his brother-in-law, William Strowig, Town Mosel, this morning at 8 o'clock. He was born July 27, 1891, in Town Herman, son of Henry and Mathilda Wessel.
He married Hattie Hingess on July 29, 1922. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church of Haven. Survivors are his widow, two daughters, the Misses Phyliss and Mae Jean, his mother, Mrs. Henry Wessel, his father-in-law, Henry Hingiss, three brothers, Julius, Gustave and Arthur, and five sisters, Mrs. Clara Heckmann, Mrs. Elsie Boeger, Mrs. Louise Gretz, Mrs. Sophie Hoesler and Mrs. Arno Schultz.
Last rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bailhorn Funeral temple, the Rev. W. F. Schink officiating with burial in Saxon cemetery.
